A man has been charged with high range PCA following a vehicle stop in Gerringong on Tuesday.

About 7.45am (Tuesday 2 August 2022), police received reports of a vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner in Callala Bay.

Soon after, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police Highway Patrol observed the vehicle being driven northbound on the Princes Highway at Gerringong.

Police pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver – a 48-year-old man – who was subjected to a roadside breath test, returning a positive result.

The man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he underwent a secondary breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.338, more than six-and-a-half times the legal limit.

He was charged with drive with high range PCA, and his licence was suspended.

The Callala Bay man is due to appear at Kiama Local Court on Monday 7 November.
