Man rescued after crossing flooded causeway

A man has been rescued after being washed into the Hacking River while trying to cross a flooded causeway near Otford at about 7.15 on Saturday evening.

Flood Rescue operators from NSW SES Sutherland Shire working closely with Vertical rescue operators from the Wollongong SES and the Police Rescue Squad with support from NSW RFS - Otford Brigade and Helensburgh RFS  and NSW Ambulance to extricate a patient from down an embankment.

The man in his thirties managed to cling to a tree before he was taken to safety.

He was transported to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.
