Sale price of land for new Shellharbour Hospital site kept secret

A confidentiality agreement between Shellharbour City Council and the NSW Government is preventing rate and tax payers from knowing just how much NSW Health paid for a block of land at Dunmore, which forms part of the new Shellharbour Hospital site.

Shellharbour City Council held title on a 3.93 Ha parcel at the southern end of the new hospital site while another owner had title on a 10.56 Ha block.

Both lots were aquired under the Health Administration Act 1982.

Wave FM understands that despite the language used in the Government Gazette, it doesn't necessarily mean that council had no choice.

Council agreed to proceed with the transfer of the land during an extraordinary meeting earlier this month with the change of ownership only being finalised late last week.

Ongoing speculation about the process has led to Shellharbour Mayor Chris Homer clarifying a couple of points.

He wants residents to know that discussions between NSW Health and council over the past 12 months were held in a collaborative and professional manner with both parties doing extensive due diligence through their own independent experts.

Despite requests from Wave FM to Shellharbour City Council, it won't divulge the sale price while another request for information is currently with Health Infrastructure.
