Volunteer charged over alleged incident at Dapto pre-poll centre

An Illawarra volunteer working during the federal election campaign has been charged over an alleged altercation with a political party staff member.

Police said officers from Lake Illawarra PD were called to a pre-polling location in Dapto last Wednesday morning following reports of a verbal altercation between two women.

Police have been told a volunteer became verbally abusive towards the other woman.

Officers attended a home in Berkeley that evening and spoke with a 58-year-old female.

She has since been charged with one count each of intimidation and malicious damage.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear in Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday June 29.
