Motorbike rider to front Kiama Court

Lake Illawarra Police have charged a man, after getting a tip-off over an unregistered bike on the road.

About 6.40pm yesterday (Tuesday 11 January 2022), officers from Lake Illawarra Police were quick to respond to reports of a man and woman riding an unregistered trail bike along the Princes Highway at Albion Park Rail.

Upon locating the Yamaha trail bike, the rider stalled, before officers spoke to the rider and passenger.

The 32 year old male rider was subjected to a roadside drug test, which returned a positive result, the drug sample will be submitted for further analysis.

The trail bike was seized by police and he was charged with disqualified driving, use unregistered vehicle, use uninsured vehicle and not pay road tax.

He is due to appear before Kiama Local Court on 7 February, 2022.
