A man in his 60's who was being treating for COVID-19 has passed away in Wollongong Hospital.

The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District said the man was not vaccinated.

"ISLHD extends its sincere condolences to his loved ones at this sad time," a statement said.

After recording just one case each day within the local health district this week, two new cases have been recorded in the Wollongong LGA in the 24 hour period to 8pm last night.

The ISLHD said one case is from the 2502 postcode and is linked to a known case while the other case from 2518 is also linked to a known case.

"Despite the continued low cases numbers in recent weeks, the LHD reminds the community to remain vigilant for even the mildest of symptoms, and to continue to come forward for testing and vaccination," a statement said.
