Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District has confirmed 38 local residents have tested positive to COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
17 are from the Wollongong Local Government Area (LGA) - nine are linked to known cases: Postcodes - 2500 (one case), 2502 (two), 2506 (one), 2516 (one), 2517 (one) 2518 (three), 2525 (one), 2526 (three), 2530 (four)
15 are from the Shellharbour LGA – two are linked to a known case: Postcodes – 2527 (10), 2529 (five)
Six are from the Shoalhaven LGA – two are linked to a known case: Postcodes – 2540 (four), 2541 (two)
There are no new cases from the Kiama LGA.
There were 30,800 COVID-19 tests carried out in the Illawarra Shoalhaven for the week ending Sunday, 10 October.
There have now been 2,139 local cases of COVID-19 in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, since the start of the current outbreak in June.
As of 8pm Monday, 11 October there were 38 COVID-19 patients being treated in hospital.
The community is reminded to remain vigilant for symptoms and get tested if any appear, no matter how mild.
Symptoms include cold or flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath.
People with mild symptoms, such as fatigue, new muscle aches or pains, a change in taste or smell or a new runny nose, should also arrange testing as quickly as possible.
High rates of testing are critical to detecting transmission and preventing further spread of COVID-19 in the community.
