As the region emerges out of lockdown, investigations into 26 of yesterday's 35 confirmed COVID cases in Wollongong continue.
NSW Health has identified a couple of suburbs of concern after 15 new cases were confirmed in Tarrawanna and eight in Warrawong.
Authorities have only been able to link one of the 11 cases in Shellharbour while investigations continue into 11 of the 12 cases from the Shoalhaven.
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward said it's concerning that COVID cases continue to appear across the Illawarra Shoalhaven.
With lockdown now over for fully vaccinated people, Ward said people need to remain vigilant.
"As we see the opening up of NSW, as we see us move along this roadmap you will see spikes in cases.
"Just because you have been vaccinated doesn't mean you won't carry the virus.
"You mightn't be impacted by its symptoms but you can certainly pass it on to people that are not vaccinated.
"It is more important now than ever before that people get vaccinated," Ward said.
The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District said there were 45 COVID patients being treated in hospital as of 8pm Saturday night.
