Man charged with multiple offences following alleged pursuit in Barrack Heights


Lake Illawarra Police had to call in PolAir for assistance following an alleged pursuit that began in Barrack Heights yesterday afternoon.

Officers attempted to stop a driver for a random breath test on Captain Cook Drive around 2.40pm but the driver allegedly took off sparking a pursuit.

Police called the chase off on Leawarra Avenue because of safety concerns.


PolAir helped locate the abandoned vehicle in Mount Warrigal before a 39-year-old man was arrested in Landy Drive and taken to Lake Illawarra Police station.

He's been charged with five offences including police pursuit not stop drive recklessly, use registered vehicle not display authorised number plates, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, use unregistered vehicle and use class A vehicle with unauthorised number pate fixed.

He's spend the night in the dock ahead of an appearance in Wollongong Local Court today.
