Berkeley woman airlifted to hospital after balcony fall

Just after 7:15am today, Paramedics responded to reports a woman had fallen off a balcony on Nottingham Street, Berkeley.

Three paramedics crews, two specialist medical teams including the Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, paramedics treated a woman believed to be in her 70's for pelvic and lower leg injuries. She was airlifted to St George Hospital in a serious condition.

Inspector Norm Rees, NSW Ambulance said, “On arrival we were faced with a number of challenges as the balcony had completely collapsed, and we needed to safely extricate the female patient from the debris . The patient suffered significant injuries to her pelvis and lower legs. NSW Fire and Rescue crews did an excellent job, providing the best possible environment for paramedics to safely treat our patient.”
