Roads around the Illawarra and the region, are set to benefit as part of the $822 million Safer Roads Program.
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward, says the projects including works for the Illawarra Highway - Macquarie Pass, along with Terry Street, Wiley Street and Simpsons Parade 'traffic facility upgrades'.
These road improvements are designed to save lives and will include:
- $1.830 million for HW25 Illawarra Highway- Macquarie Pass – site 6 at Clover Hill Rd – Curve Correction, WCLT with ATLM Shoulder widening, Roadside Barrier with MC Under run;
- $1.210 million for Illawarra Highway, Macquarie Pass – site 5 – 450 from
Bottom of Pass, WCLT with ATLM, Should Widening & Roadside Barriers with MC under-run; and
- $280,000 for Terry St., Wiley St & Simpsons Parade Traffic Facility Upgrades.
Mr Wards says this round of the program, will see $135 million invested in 78-new projects across the state, as well as continuing projects from previous rounds.
