Wollongong and Shellharbour local government areas will receive almost $12m to be spent on major projects.
Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock, visited Wollongong to unveil the funding, with Wollongong receiving $4.75m, Shellharbour will receive slightly more at $6.875m. The funding will be utilised to construct a new seawall around the North Wollongong Surf Club area, dune stabilisation works at Port Kembla, and water quality monitoring and ecological recronstruction works for Lake Illawarra.
Shellharbour's allocation will be used for 2 projects - the large project of the Warilla Beach seawall, along with a project ro regenerate the rainforest at Bass Point.
