This morning, Henry Watkins completed a 24 hour fitness challenge in an effort to raise funds for men's mental health organisation, Top Bloke.
Top Blokes is a growing organisation working to improve the mental health and well-being of young males by providing early intervention and preventative mentoring programs for males between the ages of 10-24 years. They work with these boys over 3-6 months to increase their empathy and respect for themselves and for others.
The challenge involved 8 hours on a treadmill followed by 8 hours on a punchbag and finally 8 hours on a step machine. Throughout the challenge, Henry (on the step machine) was joined by members from a local men's health group, The Barstool Brothers, pictured above with John Smith and The Illawarra licensee, Ryan Aitchison (on the bike).
In aiming to raise $5,000, Henry hoped to be able to fund 20 placements for young men in the Illawarra who were suffering with mental health issues. Having met that target, it was revised to $7,000 dollars and with just hours to go, Henry hadn't quite met the target.
Seeing this, Klayten from Illawarra Estate Agents stepped in and donated $539 on behalf of the business to get Henry over the line.
It's not too late to donate to donate to Henry's cause here.
