The University of Wollongong is hosting the Gold Coast Suns AFL team, which will use the University’s world-class facilities for training purposes.

The team arrived in Wollongong on Sunday morning and aims to utilise ovals, the pool and UOW’s High Performance Training Area, which is home to NSW Institute of Sport athletes and other high-performance sporting teams.

The Sports Hub is one of the region’s largest and most versatile multipurpose indoor sports facilities. It provides the Illawarra and South Coast communities with a modern well-equipped sports arena suitable to host a wide range of activities from sporting events to trade fairs.

UOW Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Wellings, says UOW was excited to host the Gold Coast Suns on campus and to offer world-class training facilities to the team. The  Gold Coast Suns will make UOW its high-performance training base for approximately two weeks.
