The Illawarra is in for more rough seas.

A hazardous surf warning has been issued for the region until midnight Wednesday.

The Bureau of Meteorology said surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating and swimming along the Illawarra Coast.

Wollongong can expect a fresh and cloudy day with a high chance of showers that will become less likely this afternoon.

West to southwesterly winds will increase to 30 to 45 km/h with a top of 17 degrees.
