Woman shot at Cringila

A man has been charged after he allegedly fired a firearm during a domestic altercation in Cringila.

About 7.25pm Thursday , emergency services were called to a home on Grattan Street,  following reports of a domestic-related incident.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and found a 48-year-old woman with wounds to her face, arms, chest and back.

Police will allege a man, known to the woman, shot her with a gel blaster before striking her in the back of the head with the gun.

The man fled the scene prior to their arrival.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Wollongong Hospital with non life threatening injuries. 

Following inquiries, a 47-year-old man was arrested yesterday in Cringila and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

He's facing charges of  reckless wounding (DV), possess unauthorised pistol (x2), use unauthorised prohibited firearm, and possess unauthorised prohibited firearm.
