Three Wollongong City Council pools have reopened today after being shutdown because of the Coronavirus outbreak.
The Continental Pool along with the Dapto and Corrimal Heated Pools opened their gates this morning but there are strict rules in place under the public health orders.
Only 10 swimmers are permitted at one time with no more than one person in a lane while Council's booking 30 minute sessions.
Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said swimmers will be required to meet physical distancing guidelines and be in good health before swimming.
"I know people are keen to get back into the pools, and this step will allow that to happen.
"However, the risk related to Coronavirus is still very real and we need to work together to follow the guidelines to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of all in our community, including Council staff working at the pools," the Lord Mayor said.
Council said it will continue to monitor and review pool operations to ensure it's meeting the updated guidelines.
In line with the guidelines, toilet facilities will be open and change rooms will remain closed.
