Two girls have ended up in hospital, one with serious injuries after a nasty crash at Vincentia yesterday afternoon.

Around two o'clock, the 17-year-olds were in a car that crashed off Naval College Road and slammed into a tree.

The passenger side of the vehicle was badly damaged, trapping the girls.

Multiple rescue crews attended to free them.

One of the teens suffered serious head and pelvic injuries and was flown by the Toll rescue chopper to St George Hospital while the other girl was taken by ambulance to Wollongong Hospital with minor injuries.

Inquiries into the crash are continuing.
