Mt Ousley - disabled man high-pressure water injuries

A carer has been charged after spray from a high-pressure water cleaner injured a resident at a group home at Mt Ousley.

Officers from Wollongong Police Area Command initiated an investigation after the family of a man – who has a number of disabilities – reported he’d been injured at the home on Aristo Crescent on Sunday 1 September 2019. Police have been told the 36-year-old man was found with numerous injuries across his side and buttocks after he was hit with spray from a high-pressure water cleaner, allegedly being operated by a carer at the home.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 41-year-old woman at Wollongong Police Station on Friday, and charged her with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court on 7 January 2020.
