Hundreds of school students along with other protestors will gather in Wollongong today calling for more action on climate change.
They will be part of more than 100 demonstrations around the country, coinciding with the United Nations Emergency Climate Summit in New York.
The Wollongong Rally begins at lunchtime outside the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre on Burelli Street.
They plan to march along the Crown St Mall before heading to Flagstaff Hill.
Student Jarrah Carlile said others have been invited to join the students because the issue affects everyone.
"The past few strikes have been aimed at school students but this strike we've been opening up to everyone everywhere to take a chance and strike for their futures.
"We believe that not only will we get out to the public and spread our message but that we will force the Government into action if enough people take days off school and work," Carlile said.
Protests are also being held in Nowra, Bowral and Ulladulla.
