Too dangerous not to vaccinate

Parents and carers across the Illawarra are being urged to take advantage of the free flu vaccine for children under the age of 5.

Latest data shows 37 people have died from flu-related illnesses across the state since January.

Doctor Vicki Sheppard rom NSW Health says the increased vulnerability of kids to the illness means its vital they're protected:"There's two reasons why we give free flu vaccines for children under five. The first is that they're highly susceptible to flu and have very high hospitalisation rates if they catch flu and the other reason is that they're very good spreaders of the flu right across the community."
