Butchers a mathematical chance of claiming minor premiership

Thirroul head to Helensburgh tomorrow still a chance of claiming the Illawarra Rugby League minor premiership in the final round of the regular season.

It is a numbers game for the Butchers, they not only have to beat the Tigers but by 47-points to leap frog the league leading Red Devils who have the bye this weekend.

Whilst the Tigers won't be a push over, Thirroul will be encouraged by Dapto's 54-4 win over Helensburgh a fortnight ago.

Tigers forward Steve McCallum will be hoping to finish the season a high as he celebrates his 200th first grade game for Helensburgh.

A Butchers victory will guarantee them a berth in a major semi-final.

Defending premiers Collegians will warm up for the final series against Berkeley while wooden spooners Corrimal close out a tough 2018 campaign with a clash against the Canaries at Dapto Showground.
