Wollongong swimmer Emma McKeon has won her first gold medal of the meet on the opening night of competition at the Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo.
McKeon swam the butterfly leg in Australia's 4 x 100 mixed medley relay team of Mitch Larkin, Jake Packard and Cate Campbell who anchored the Dolphins home in blistering fashion with the fastest split in history.
Australia stopped the clocked in three-minutes, 38.91 seconds to score a shock win over Japan and the United States.
The Dolphins finished the opening day with one gold, 3 silver and a bronze.
McKeon will be back in the pool today chasing more medals in the 100 freestyle and women's 4 x 200 freestyle relay.
