A teenager walked about two-kilometres to get help after being bitten by a snake at Kiama.
About 1pm Friday  lifeguards at  Surf Beach were surprised when a 14-year-old girl approached them and told them she had been bitten by a red-bellied black snake while walking up stairs at East Beach... about two-kilometres away.
Kiama head lifeguard ANDY MOLE says she was quite calm and they treated bite marks on her heal, before she was taken by ambulance to hospital. " We just applied a pressure immobilisation bandage as a precaution. She was showing no signs or symptoms, so that's what makes us believe that no venom was actually inflicted on the young girl at the time."
