5 Wollongong Police Assaulted By Teen

A girl has been charged with a range of offences including the assault of several police and assault with intent to rob after an incident at Wollongong on Friday night.

Officers from Wollongong Police Transport Command attended the western entrance to Wollongong Railway Station after reports of a brawl.

Upon arrival police attempted arrest a 14-year-old girl, who they observed trying to flee the scene after being involved in the altercation. During the arrest, the girl allegedly assaulted an officer by punching him in the face.

She continued to resist and kick out at officers, also spitting in an officer’s eye.

Once in custody she allegedly assaulted further police, scratching and punching a female officer’s arms causing lacerations, punching another senior constable in the head several times, and kicking another in the knee and groin.

She was charged with five counts of assault police, affray, resist arrest and malicious damage.

She was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Tuesday.
