We're being advised to ensure sufficient intake of cereal fibre in our diets to avoid heart disease, type two diabetes and certain cancers.
Concerns are that many in the Illawarra are only getting half the daily recommended cereal fibre, required because we're picking products low in the right nutrients.
Researcher from the University of Wollongong Eden Barrett...says whole grain, high fibre choices, are the best option:
"it is actually very simple to increase fibre within day-to-day life. Simply swapping your regular cereal breakfast for a bowl of oats, or eating whole grain bread for lunch, or trying brown rice or brown pasta..."
