44 new cases in the Illawarra Shoalhaven

There were 129,266 COVID-19 tests reported to 8pm last night, uncovering 1,351 new locally acquired cases.

Of these cases, 44 belong to the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, with 21 in Wollongong, 20 in Shellharbour, two in Kiama and 1 in the Shoalhaven.

There are currently 1,231 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 231 people in intensive care, 108 of whom require ventilation. Only 5 people in ICU have been double dose vaccinated.

Sadly there has been another 12 deaths, with the youngest a man in his 40s. Of these people, 10 had not received any vaccination.

Across NSW, 80.1 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose COVID-19 vaccine, and 48.5 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11:59pm on Tuesday 14 September 2021. The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 8,456,255.

With cases being found in Lismore and Albury, both areas will enter in to a seven day lockdown.
