Hundreds have turned out for the May Day march in Port Kembla on Saturday. Wentworth Street Port Kembla was closed for the march, unionists held placards, to protest the Illawarra becoming the east coast base, for Australia’s new nuclear-powered submarines. Greens Senator David Shoebridge attended the march, and says a nuclear submarine base will destroy thousands of jobs, and billions of dollars in renewable energy investment.
