Willy Wonka Star Has Life Support Turned Off

Denise Nickerson, one of the child stars of the original Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory has had her life support switched off, following suffering a major stroke a year ago.

Nickerson played the part of Violet Beauregarde in the 1971 film, where she played a spoilt girl who failed to follow Willy Wonka's (Gene Wilder) advice, and ate his experimental bubblegum.

Her son, Josh and his partner, Jasmine, have said that they are 'telling her it's ok to go' whilst confirming the removal of medical equipment and that do not resuscitate orders are in place.
