Woman hospitalised in alleged NT assault

A woman is in hospital with head and internal injuries following an assault by a group of people in the Northern Territory.

Police found a 31-year-old woman with injuries consistent with an assault outside a block of units in Palmerston around 1am on Thursday.

She was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital where she is in a serious but stable condition and police are appealing for witnesses.

"A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in custody at this time," Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Ruzsicska said.

"Initial information suggests an altercation may have taken place earlier between a group of people in the vicinity of the shops on Moulden Terrace."
