NT attacker allegedly bites victim's face

A man has allegedly bitten a chunk out of a victim's face at a caravan park in the Northern Territory.

Police say the 31-year-old man assaulted two people in Alice Springs about 8pm on Wednesday.

"The man allegedly indecently assaulted a 41-year-old woman before attempting to steal a vehicle," Detective Superintendent Michael White said.

The accused then allegedly kissed another man on the cheek before biting a chunk out of his face, Det Supt White said.

Residents at the caravan park helped subdue the attacker before police arrived and the victim was taken to hospital with non-critical injuries.

The man was charged with a string of offences including indecent and aggravated assault and remanded in custody to appear at the Alice Springs Local Court on Thursday.
