Significant Amount Of Money Siphoned From Steelers

The Illawarra District Rugby League Club has now confirmed a large amount of money has been siphoned from the club and a senior executive sacked.

In March the Mercury revealed club manager SCOTT MILES had left the club without explanation and police had been called in after an audit,  prior to the club's annual general meeting, discovered money had gone missing.

The Steelers Club has now issued a statement saying an independent forensic investigation has uncovered a discrepancy  involving a significant amount of money.

Without mentioning a name, the statement also confirmed a senior executive was no longer with the company.

The club says the report has been handed on to police and other relevant parties and they'll be issuing no further comment while inquiries are underway.
