Flags will come down at most Illawarra beaches on Anzac Day.

Surf Lifesaving NSW says the season, which began in September, has been action-packed and demanding. 21,000 patrol members gave over 560,000 hours of their time to keep the state's beaches safe. The volunteers carried out almost 4,000 rescues.
