Boy critical after bike hits car in Warrawong

A teenage boy riding a bike has been taken to Wollongong hospital in a critical condition, suffering a head injury after colliding with a car in Warrawong.

Reports are the accident occurred at around 12.30pm on Minnegang Street, Lake Illawarra Police said the boy had a helmet with him, but they weren't certain if he was wearing it. The driver of the car claimed that she was stopped at Jane Avenue waiting for the rider to pass, however the boy hit the car - his face hitting the windscreen, Police said he lost a number of teeth in the impact. 

Paramedics attended and stabilised the boy before taking him to hospital, there were no reports on the condition of the female driver of the car.
