Best Chef Lake Illawarra

Yesterday I hung out at Lake Illawarra Police Station…in a completely legal capacity…I had the privilege of being one of the judges (aka taste testers) in the Best Chef Lake Illawarra Competition, an event that was organised by Inspector Steven Johnson to help our one of their colleagues whose battling cancer.

I was joined by MasterChef top 24 contestant Dalvinder Dhami on the judging panel and we had A LOT of food to sample!

I had to sample ALL of the desserts (it was a tough job ;)

This little beauty got the ‘encouragement award’:

And the talented Emma made the above cake creation. It took 15 HOURS!! But looks amazing, almost too good to eat!

Inspector Johnson put in a great effort in the live cook up but was pipped at the post by Constable Leigh Dal Bon and Communications Officer Merika Fulton took overall honours with her brushetta entree & gnocchi arrabbiata.

It was a great afternoon and just another testament to the generosity & heart of our community. A big thank you to everyone involved  :)

Now I’m off to the gym…have about 2500 calories to burn off!
