Manufacturing showcase Wollongong

Thursday, 16 August 2012 11:12

products7-250x250 The second annual Wollongong Manufacturing Showcase is being  held over the next three days.

Attracting leading industry representatives from around the country, the event highlights what's available here for Australia's major players to tap into.

Meantime the COALITION says it's skeptical about the findings of today's report into the manufacturing industry because small business had no input.

The government-commissioned study is set to help the sector make the most of the Asian market and adjust to the high Aussie dollar.

But Shadow Industry Minister Sophie Mirabella says, the authors are CEOs and union bosses.

Aussie Market set to spark up this morning

Aussie Market set to spark up this morning

Australian shares are expected to rise in early trade after US equities pushed higher as investors grew more confident that the Federal Reserve will temper its statements on the future reduction of US monetary support. We are Off To Brazil

At the biggest moment of Australia's World Cup qualifying campaign, it took one of Holger Osieck's bravest calls to get the Socceroos to Brazil. With the minutes ticking away and the vital goal needed to earn qualification yet to be scored, Osieck shocked most of the 80,000 fans – and the man himself – by replacing talisman Tim Cahill. Cahill, Australia's hero on so many occasions, didn't react well to the substitution and was far from happy to be replaced by Josh Kennedy with just 13 minutes left. But just six minutes later it proved a master stroke as... Read more

A True Gentleman Getting Better

Nelson Mandela, who has been in hospital for 10 days suffering a lung infection, is "doing very well", one of his daughters says. "He is doing very well," Zenani Mandela-Dlamini, South Africa's ambassador to Argentina, on Monday told reporters gathered outside the Pretoria hospital treating the 94-year-old Mandela. Earlier on Monday the anti-apartheid hero's wife Graca Machel thanked the world for its messages of support which she said had eased "the burden of anxiety". "Our gratitude is difficult to express. But the love and peace we feel give yet more life to the simple 'Thank you!'," Machel, 67,... Read more
