Aussie Market set to spark up this morning
Australian shares are expected to rise in early trade after US equities pushed higher as investors grew more confident that the Federal Reserve will temper its statements on the future reduction of US monetary support. On the ASX24, the SPI futures contract was 30 points higher at 4850. The Aussie dollar is under 95 US cents after falling on the release yesterday of the minutes from the RBA's June interest rates meeting. It was recently buying 94.81, down from around 95.15 at the local close. The local unit was also buying 90.33 yen, 70.77 euro cents and 60.61 British... Read more

Earlier on Monday the anti-apartheid hero's wife Graca Machel thanked the world for its messages of support which she said had eased "the burden of anxiety". "Our gratitude is difficult to express. But the love and peace we feel give yet more life to the simple 'Thank you!'," Machel, 67,... Read more
