Wollongong organ recipient encourages donors

A Wollongong organ recipient hopes some changes announced by the State Government this week will result in more organ donors.

Consent will no longer be sought through a question on drivers-licence renewals, after it was found a quarter of people say "no", while about the same proportion don't answer the question at all.

As a result the state government will launch a campaign to encourage us to join the National Donor Register.

Wollongong transplant recipient JESSICA SPARKS says she hopes it will encourage more people to talk about it and sign-up.

Major damage in Oklahoma City suburb of Moore, including two elementary schools destroyed. At least 120 injuries reported. Doors Founding Member Dead

Ray Manzarek, a founding member and keyboardist of 1960s rock group The Doors, has died at a medical clinic in Germany at age 74 following a battle with cancer, the group's manager Tom Vitorino said. Manzarek, who lived in Northern California's Napa Valley wine country for the past decade, had been seeking treatment in Germany for bile duct cancer, Vitorino said. He died in Rosenheim, Germany, surrounded by his wife and brothers.
